POP, IMAP, and SMTP settings; Microsoft 365. You can use Outlook to read and send email from Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, and other email accounts. If you want to manually add another email account to Outlook, you might need to use advanced configuration. See Add an email account to Outlook. You need your email provider’s inbox server settings (POP or IMAP) and outgoing mail server settings (SMTP).

Connect email accounts in Outlook on the web (Microsoft 36.) You might need to use Office 365 SMTP Relay if you want to send bulk email (such as for a marketing campaign) and route emails through a trusted third-party server that offers a high level of security. The flow of messages between your mail server and Office 365 servers can be configured with connectors and TLS encryption.
The sending application (the local email server) must support TLS, connect to Office 365 servers on port 587 (the SMTP port for Office 365 with encryption enabled), and authenticate with Office 365. An SMTP relay is used when you need a higher level of spam and virus protection for incoming email compared to your local email server, but you can’t just switch to Microsoft email servers.
